Vaccinate South LA Aims to Gain Trust Among People of Color

On Jan. 7, Councilman Curren Price joined trusted partners St. John's Well Child and Family Center and the Special Needs Network to kick off the #VaccinateSLA Event, providing an opportunity for frontline healthcare workers in LA County to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The goal of the Vaccinate South LA initiative was to increase trust in the safety of the new vaccines among African American and Latino communities when the availability for the vaccine opens up to everyone at facilities like St. John’s.

The staff at St. John’s has been instrumental in combating the coronavirus pandemic in District 9, offering mobile testing, administering testing to students at Los Angeles Trade Technical College, and testing at local senior facilities and to homeless neighbors.
