Efforts continued to rev up with no signs of slowing down across District 9 mobile vaccine clinics! During the week of April 13-17, vaccination appointments at South Park Recreation Center opened up to anyone 16 or older, resulting in an average of 300 COVID-19 vaccine doses a day.
With the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) and local volunteer groups like Equipo Verde on hand at South Park, the effort during the week reached more than 1,000 neighbors.
On April 16, attendees got an extra special treat heading into the weekend. Neighbors received lunch, food boxes, masks and Girl Scouts from a local middle school were on hand selling cookies. Since getting a shot can be daunting for some, Councilman Curren Price has made it his mission to create a trusted, friendly and welcoming environment at his vaccination sites.
CD 9 neighbors can continue to call Councilman Price’s District Office to arrange an appointment for a vaccine and request a ride at (323) 846-2651.
