Important Message from Councilmember Curren Price Regarding the Reinvestment of LAPD Funds

Along with three of his colleagues, Councilmember Curren Price earlier this year championed a $150 million cut to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) budget, of which $90 million was set aside for reinvestment in disadvantaged communities / communities of color and reimagining public safety. On Dec. 9, the LA City Council approved the blueprint for how the money should be allocated across impacted communities. Council District 9, identified in a report as the region with the “highest need” census tracts, is expected to receive the most funds with more than $21 million.
