Mobile COVID-19 vaccination teams on Feb. 19 wrapped up back-to-back weekly efforts to bring the shot directly to local seniors 65 and older, as well as health care workers, via a grassroots program led by Councilmember Curren Price intended to vaccinate some of District 9's most vulnerable residents.
The orchestrated effort to go into South LA neighborhoods launched in early February at South Park Recreation Center and continued Feb. 16 to Feb. 19 at Green Meadows Recreation Center. With the help of Team Price driving City vehicles, and support from Access vans and private buses, the latest opportunity was responsible for helping to transport hundreds of seniors from Kilgore Manor & Griffith Gardens Senior Apartments, Pueblo del Rio Public Housing facility, and others to the mobile vaccine site.
The CD9 COVID-19 mobile vaccination clinics, in partnership with Core (Community Organized Relief Effort) and the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD, continue at Vermont Square Park from Feb. 23 to Feb. 26. Please see the flyers below for more details. The local effort has been responsible for administering thousands of COVID-19 vaccines to local neighbors over the course of the last two weeks.
To schedule an appointment or request a ride (must reside in District 9), please call Councilman Price’s District Office at (323) 846-2651. You may also click here to be considered for an appointment.
