Figueroa Corridor Streetscape Project Ready to Roll!

Today, we celebrated the opening of a bigger, better, safer and more complete Figueroa. The $20 million MyFigueroa project transformed the street into a multimodal thoroughfare serving all users more efficiently-whether by foot, bike, bus or car.

The upgrades include: protected bike lanes, new bus boarding platforms, wider sidewalks, new street trees, public art, additional street lighting, and many more amenities for everyone traveling on Figueroa.

MyFig catapults Los Angeles into the forefront of multimodal transportation, but we're not done yet! We will continue to explore other locations for protected bicycle facilities, transportation hubs and safe equitable first mile, last mile solutions in the NEW 9th.

The project area extends 2.5 miles along Figueroa from Wilshire Boulevard to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, with additional improvements on 11th Street (from Figueroa Street to Broadway) and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (from Figueroa Street to Vermont Avenue), and totaling 4.25 miles of bike lanes. MyFigueroa connects residents to many important destinations in the NEW 9th, including Exposition Park, University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles Trade Technical College, LA Live, the Los Angeles Convention Center, and more. The project also connects to three existing Metro Rail lines and the future Metro Regional Connector, as well as many bus lines.

The upgrades make Figueroa the most comprehensive, complete street in the City, and links South Los Angeles to Downtown LA. The ultimate goal was to make Figueroa safer and provide more transportation options for Angelenos.
