Councilman Curren Price Receives Public Service Award from SALEF

The Salvadoran American Leadership & Educational Fund (SALEF), named Councilman Price a Champion of Change during its 22nd Anniversary Awards and Scholarship Banquet on Oct. 26.

During the celebration, Councilman Price received the Public Service Award for his work to protect immigrant youth and their families.

“I went into public service because I believe we have a moral obligation to help others,” Councilman Price said. “Helping our young immigrants has and will continue to be one of my biggest priorities. It is the reason I throw my unconditional support to organizations like SALEF and why earlier this year, I gave CHIRLA and CARECEN $1 million to provide a range of free legal services in District 9.”

Over the course of the past two decades, SALEF has provided more than $1 million in scholarships to undocumented and other underserved Latino students. For more information, visit
