To assist District 9 families at the launch of the application period for BIG:LEAP (Basic Income Guaranteed: Los Angeles Economic Assistance Pilot), Councilmember Curren Price has opened the doors to six assistance centers in South LA from Oct. 29 to Nov. 7.

BIG:LEAP will provide 3,000 Angelenos who are living in poverty and have been impacted by COVID-19 with $1,000 a month for one year - no strings attached. The application to participate closes Sunday, Nov. 7 at 11:59 p.m.

Councilman Price's District Office (4301 S. Central Ave.) has been transformed into a help center and will be open Monday through Friday 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m.-5 p.m., for the entirety of the 10-day online application window. Additional hubs have been activated, offering computer access with WiFI along with language support throughout South LA. This includes three local libraries, All Peoples Community Center (FamilySource Center in CD 9), and Trade-Tech College. (See graphics here for complete details).

Earlier this year, Councilman Price proposed a $6 million Guaranteed Basic Income pilot for District 9 neighbors. The program he introduced evolved into a $36 million Citywide initiative. More information at
