Anonymous Gun Buyback Program A Great Success

.
.
On March 20, Councilmember Curren Price was on hand during an early morning call to action as a constant stream of cars were greeted by Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers to safely accept guns and ammunition during an anonymous gun buyback event at the South LA Volunteers of America facility.
.
This effort led by Mayor Eric Garcetti's Office of Gang Reduction and Youth Development (GRYD) provided cash cards to compensate for surrendering a firearm, including $100 for handguns, shotguns and rifles, and a $200 gift card for assault weapons.
.
At the end of the day, a collection of 140 handguns, rifles and assault weapons were turned in including ammunition, which will go on to help reduce gun violence in the community.
