As part of the 7th National Food Day celebration at LA City Hall in late October, I had the honor to recognize a local husband-and-wife ran restaurant and catering business named Served 2 Enjoy.
Two years ago, Luis and Ariana opened their health-conscious business along Central Avenue. Their goal was simple: To provide local customers with delicious, healthy options and quality service at reasonable prices. Most recently, Served 2 Enjoy expanded their business and launched a meal-prep program where they service local gyms and other businesses with healthy, nutritional, portioned out meals daily.
The presentation, in partnership with the Los Angeles Food Policy Council (LAFPC)—which advocates on ways to make food healthy, environmentally sustainable, affordable and fair for all Angelenos—allowed me to shine the light on this local business as CD 9’s Good Food Champion!
On a related note, I was proud to lead efforts earlier this year to implement the City’s first urban agriculture program. The new Urban Agriculture Incentive Zone Program offers tax incentives to turn vacant lots into urban farms and community gardens, which brings good food into communities and makes urban communities more green and vibrant.
