As Chair of the Economic Development Committee, Councilman Curren D. Price Jr. launched a series of hearings on the current proposal to raise wages in Los Angeles to $13.25 by 2017 and $15.25 by 2019. The hearings come as a result of a motion introduced this fall by Councilman Price along with his colleagues, Councilmembers Mike Bonin, Gil Cedillo, and Nury Martinez, in their efforts to address growing income disparities in our city as well as the fast growing number of working poor in Los Angeles.
Hundreds of community members are expected to attend the community hearings being held throughout the City, but if you can't join us, we still want to hear from you! Let us know how you feel about this effort to address poverty in our city by submitting your suggestions here.
