Jacquelyn Horton
Director of Public Infrastructure Development

My job entails: Handling the Public Art, Parks and Open Spaces, Green Alleys, and staffing the Arts, Entertainment, Parks, and River Committee and the Coliseum Commission

What most excites me about my work is being able to advocate for residents and collaborating with public, private, and community agencies to make improvements in the Ninth District.

In the past, I have worked with: SEIU (USWW), The California State Assembly, The Office of Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer, The Los Angeles Urban League, UCLA, and The City of Los Angeles Community Development Department.

My all-time role model is my grand uncle, Dr. Lewie C. Roache because he paid for himself and his siblings to complete college and retired as the Dean Emeritus of the School of Arts and Sciences at South Carolina State University.

The best advice I’d give to my younger self is: to spend less and save more

My favorite book of all time is: A Taste of Power by Elaine Brown

The three things I can’t live without are: music, family, and laughter
