Name/Title: Dorothy C. Randle, CD9 Business Resource Center Executive Director
My job entails: Working in conjunction with organizations and agencies to offer area entrepreneurs and business owners access to tools, services and training. Develop special programs and year-round activities to encourage entrepreneurship and promote growth of local businesses. Help boost hiring, job creation and retention through a partnership with the Vernon-Central/L.A. Trade Tech WorkSource Center.
What most excites me about my work is: Creating valuable programs that empower entrepreneurs and allow them to succeed. Also, assisting job seekers find quality employment.
In the past, I have worked with: Supported small, minority and women-owned business communities as a member of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s Business Team; Turning Point Communications.
My all-time role model is Jesus Christ, whom I consider the most influential servant-leader because he led by example, loved people and taught those he served. I also admire Oprah Winfrey for her passion to make a difference in the lives of others and perseverance despite personal obstacles.
The best advice I’d give to my younger self is: Take advantage of your youth by exploring every opportunity presented to you, set high goals and strive to achieve your goals with excellence. Don’t be afraid to leave your comfort zone and venture outside familiar places.
My favorite book of all time is: The Bible; The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People; The E-Myth Revisited; Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead
The three things I can’t live without are: My relationship with the Lord, family, and friends.
