On Friday, May 8, Councilmember Curren Price stopped by a “Project Roomkey” facility in District 9 currently housing people experiencing homelessness who are at high-risk for hospitalization if they are infected with COVID-19.
During his visit, Councilman Price dropped off more than 100 hygiene kits for the individuals and families who are staying temporarily in the hotel rooms. To qualify to participate in Project Roomkey, individuals must be 65 years of age or older or have underlying medical conditions or be medically compromised. Councilmember Price met with representatives of RPP Products, a Southern California-based motor oil and lubricants company that shifted its operations to begin making FDA-approved hand sanitizers. RPP Products was onsite delivering 250 gallons (approximately 1,000 32 oz. bottles) of hand sanitizer to help Los Angeles’ homeless population fight the COVID-19 crisis.
