The Collaborative Event will continue to be free for all and is already receiving broad support from elected officials and community organizations representing the Coliseum and surrounding neighborhoods
Councilman Curren D. Price Jr was pleased to receive the support of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission Friday, approving his proposal for an expanded Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular and Community Resource Fair at the historic South Los Angeles landmark. Councilman Price is the Los Angeles City Council Representative for the Ninth District, which encompasses a vast swath of South Los Angeles including all of Exposition Park including the Coliseum grounds.
“Our proposal laid out a collaborative plan to produce a world class event for our community with the support of various elected officials that represent the Coliseum and Expo Park, as well as a host of community organizations who have also voiced their support for this free and family friendly event,” said Councilman Price.“ My goal has always been to bring to the people of the New Ninth – and all Angelenos - an event that we can be proud of, avoiding some of the cost overruns we have seen in the past. I am pleased to receive the approval of the Coliseum Commission, and am eager and ready to move forward with this special holiday celebration.”
The upcoming Fourth of July event will include family friendly entertainment, music performance and food vendors including food trucks as well as community resource booths and retail vendors. The Councilman is also talking to all of the museums in Exposition Park to ensure that they partner with the event as well as the University of Southern California and other community organizations.
