My job entails: Assist Communications department with message development, content creation and event coordination. I draft articles, press releases, blog posts and other material (in English and Spanish) that tell the story of the Ninth District under Councilman Price's leadership. Also responsible for posting content across social media channels and the NEW 9th website, and I support the ream with media relations to keep constituents informed of news happening in the District.
What most excited me about my work is knowing that I am using my skills as a writer and communicator to tell the evolving story of South Los Angles and the place I call home. I am fortunate to be part of a team that is working day in and day out to create a change in an underserved community.
In the past, I have worked with: I spent a majority of my life working at my mom's restaurant since the age of 13. This was a great experience that taught me the value of a dollar and hard work. It also helped me become a more responsible and mature individual, and shaped me into the person that I am today. Prior to joining the Office of Councilman Price, I served as a Communications Intern at Covered California for one year. There I learned the principles of Public Relations as part of a large team that was responsible for educating the masses about the Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare") via news stories and TV and radio segments, public service announcements and special events.
My all-time role models are my parents because they have instilled the motivation and strength in me to never give up and to always remember where I came from
The best advice I'd give to my younger self is: everything takes time and do not stress about the little things
My favorite book of all time is: the series of Harry Potter books
The three things I can't live without are: my dog Woody, music, and familia
