With construction nearing completion on the first "A Bridge Home" site in CD 9, it will soon be home to 100 of the most vulnerable people in South LA.
“A Bridge Home” provides emergency temporary housing facilities to serve the homeless population that are within a 1.5 mile radius of the site. The facility in District 9 will offer wrap-around services, including medical care, job training and housing placement. Individuals living in the facility will have access to a nurse, mental healthcare workers and social workers. There will also be 24-hour security on site, seven days a week.
With a warm bed, three meals a day, storage for personal belongings, a pet kennel, clean restrooms and access to laundry facilities, this marks the beginning of a new journey for so many unsheltered neighbors.
This is one of three such projects that will be coming to District 9 this year in an effort to combat the homelessness crisis.
